BASEketball

Check Out The Trailer

Starring Trey Parker as Joe Cooper and Matt Stone as Doug Remer, “BASEketball” follows two childhood friends who are pro athletes of a national sport called BASEketball, a hybrid of baseball and basketball, and must deal with a greedy businessman scheming against their team.

This is one of those movies where you kinda have to watch it at least once, especially if you’re a guy. It’s in that same category as “Wayne’s World” or “Dumb and Dumber”, with all of the dirty jokes and zany behavior. It took me a while to finally add it to my “seen movies” list, but I’m glad I did.

The story starts out with two slackers, a lot like the previously mentioned movies, who end up making a game they play in their drive way. It quickly becomes massively popular, and thanks to an investor, becomes the next big thing. The main rule in the game is that you can psych out the person shooting the ball using any means necessary. Watching the creators of “South Park” try to psych out people in an “R” rated movie makes for a funny situation.

The movie was directed by David Zucker of “Airplane!”, and you can really tell. The gags are pretty similar, as is the set up for the gags. In one scene, Baxter Cain (played by Robert Vaughn) says to Yvette Denslow (played by Jenny McCarthy) very sensuously , “my lobby needs waxing, if you know what I mean”. The next scene, after seeing him look at his crotch while he says that, shows Yvette downstairs in the lobby waxing it. That and many other word play gags are littered throughout the film for you to find.

I enjoyed this movie, and not only as the sophomoric loving humor guy. Ok, maybe that was the only reason I liked it. But anyway, it is a fun and vastly inappropriate movie, so go check it out if you crack up at that kind of stuff. It is on Netflix Instant Queue, so go watch it for free!
